As one of the never-admit-to-aging members of the baby boomers generation who is a granny nanny grandma to many, I am often involved in fun activities for grandparents and their grandchildren. From dinosaur tag to playing tennis at the park to having a blast at an unexpected game of bowling with the grandkids, I've learned that life can't always be planned. But by doing some pre-planning, you're usually well prepared for unexpected and delightful fun with your grandkids. I've also learned there are certain indispensable items to always have available - in my purse or my car:
Wallet and credit card - for all those fun activities for grandparents and their grandchildren that our grandkids and we enjoy
Purell cleaner or baby wipes - for cleaning messes
Change of clothes (including diapers if they are still being used) for those occasional and unexpected accidents and messes that are too big for a little Purell
Water bottles and a wrapped snack or two - hunger always seems to strike at inopportune moments. I buy those pre-packaged snacks with 100 calories in each bag. They stay fresh, store easily, and are quite handy to have around.
An easy to use digital camera - to catch all those spur of the moment, yet wonderfully special, family memories that flit by in all the most unexpected moments
Come to think of it, childhood is so fleeting and the family memories such a blessing, I think that an easy to use digital camera should be first on the list, followed closely by the wallet.
